about

Introducing Scale, the multidisciplinary artist Sergei Galunenko, also known as Galun. Renowned for his exceptional beatboxing skills, Galun showcases the incredible art of creating music solely through the power of his voice. In his latest project, Scale, the artist combines diverse acoustic and textural layers, along with elements of pop music, to showcase a more electronic side.

BOTO / Space Rocket Trains is a delightful and virtuosic techno experience that skillfully blends influences from contemporary R'n'B to 80s synth-pop, and even the epileptic hip-hop of Thavius Beck, into an irresistible glitchy and maximalist mixture. It's as danceable as it is atmospheric! (Credit, IRM, Seb Lapin)

Artist's Statement & Concept Note:

The album consists of two parts, plus a bonus track.

"Boto" The music was originally composed for a theatrical performance in Brazil that unfortunately never came to fruition. The script was based on the fascinating tale of the Amazon Indians and their connection to the Boto dolphin. The plan was to combine samba dance and ballet with electronic music, creating a unique fusion of cultures within one project. Sadly, due to insufficient funding, the project had to be discontinued. However, the music still exists, and a video clip was recorded featuring one of the dancers from the project.

"Space Rocket Trains" This part of the album was inspired by thoughts about space, and I decided to dedicate it to the father of astronautics, Tsiolkovsky, choosing the title of one of his books.

As a bonus, the album also includes an ambient composition that is quite old, possibly from 2005 or 2006. It evokes nostalgia for the period when I played in the avant-garde jazz experimental project, Krylov Quartet.
